Hey Tweeps. I’m looking for a #PHP Developer to join me @twilio for about 15-20hrs/wk. Passion for technical writing a plus.— Marcus Battle (@themarcusbattle) January 22, 2019
– 100% Remote
– Flexible Hours
– Great for freelancers
RT to get the word out plz
This is where we invite members of the PHP community, at all skill levels, to create something with Twilio’s APIs, write a tutorial for others to learn from, and pay them $500 USD for their time. (Yes you can join today and write as many times as you want!)
A Job for Technical Writers
We’re committed to publishing high-quality tutorials that rally and prompt PHP developers to build the future of communications. As a result of that commitment, our tutorials have millions of views per year and developers become more confident using their programming language of choice with Twilio’s APIs.
To make that happen, it takes a lot of hard work to review the tutorials submitted from all over the world. That’s why I could use your help for 15-20 hrs per week in the editorial process.
Who are we hiring?
I am looking to add an experienced PHP Developer as a long-term contractor and technical editor to our team who has:
- Thorough knowledge of PHP (v7+ is preferred)
- Proficiency with object-oriented programming
- The ability to write secure and performant code
- 2+ years experience working with PHP (or proficiency in a major PHP framework such as Laravel, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Symfony, ExpressionEngine, etc.)
- Experience with (and enjoyment of) technical writing
In addition, the best candidate will be expected to be/have:
- Strong writing skills (as this is a technical writing position)
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English (our tutorials are all in English)
- Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
Are There Any Restrictions?
- This is a contract position.
- Contract length and compensation are available upon request.
- The position is remote but we can hire people in most (but not all) locations in the world. I’m happy to clarify whether we can hire in your specific location.
Become a Twilio Tutorial Author to Apply
My team and I were wondering what’s the best way we can give candidates a taste of the job and it hit us: let you see both sides! Go through writing a high-quality tutorial teaching a PHP concept for our Twilio Community Tutorials program and experience it from a writer’s perspective.
This way, we’re able to see exactly how you’ll fit in a technical writing role at Twilio and you’ll have the opportunity to be a published author on one of the most read technical blogs on the Internet (4.1 Million pageviews last year).
Keep in mind that every post may not be published due to our standards. If you complete and publish a tutorial, we will compensate you $500 for your time. If you’re in a country where we can’t currently hire, we’ll still compensate you for your time in writing and publishing a post (PayPal account required).
If you’re ready to apply, complete the following form to begin the application process. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to meeting you!
NOTE: I will follow up via email to approve your topic. Please don’t begin your article before submitting the application.
Completing this form does not guarantee an interview or employment. $500 USD will only be paid to applicants who complete the interview process of writing and publishing a tutorial for the Twilio PHP Community Tutorials program. Unpublished tutorials will not be compensated. Twilio has the right to close the application process at any given time without an announcement.
